This project was developed as part of a university course in collaboration with the Education Department of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.
The brief was to create an illustrated encyclopedia of orchestral instruments, combining informative and interactive elements. Each student was assigned an instrument — mine was the double bass — and tasked with designing a double-page spread that communicates both knowledge and engagement.
My contribution included an informational spread as well as an interactive “search-and-find” illustration, inviting viewers to explore the instrument in a playful and detailed way.
In addition, every student created a short animated film that approaches the double bass from a narrative perspective. The story follows a bear who struggles with always being “too big” — until he encounters a double bass player on stage and discovers a sense of grace and belonging through music.
The project balances educational content with storytelling and visual exploration, working within a predefined color palette to create a cohesive visual language across all contributions.
